Downtown Living Interested in living in Downtown Lincoln? Search the Downtown Lincoln Association's Housing Database for available housing. Georgian Place
Apartments In 1982, the YMCA called the Arter Group
to examine options, and to create possible solutions, in
response to growing losses from their hotel operation.
The decision was made to convert the former Capital
Hotel, built in 1926, into a condominium property, with
the Y retaining portions of the lower three floors for
use with their adjacent fitness facilities. All of the
space on the upper floors was gutted, except for the
structural elements, and completely renovated in
accordance with historical guidelines, creating high
quality "new" housing in downtown Lincoln for
the first time in over a decade. The certified historic
renovation was completed in 1983, when the building was
also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
